Most, if not all, of the top free-agent options are off the board as the 2025 NFL Draft is on the horizon. However, that hasn’t stopped the Chicago Bears from making a depth signing in the secondary on Tuesday.
According to ESPN’s Courtney Cronin, the Bears signed former Minnesota Vikings cornerback Nahshon Wright to a one-year deal. The Vikings released the 27-year-old defender on Sunday.

NFL News: Bears Sign DB Nahshon Wright
The 6-foot-4-inch cornerback joined the Vikings last summer as the Dallas Cowboys traded him to the Twin Cities in exchange for Andrew Booth Jr. Minnesota waived the former Cowboys draft pick ahead of the 53-man roster deadline but signed him immediately to the practice squad.
Wright was elevated from the practice squad to the Vikings’ active roster on Nov. 30, appearing in the Week 13 contest against the Arizona Cardinals.
Minnesota signed Wright to a reserve/future contract for the 2025 season in January. This isn’t a needle mover for the Bears' defense, but he could make the 53-man roster due to his familiarity with new Chicago defensive backs coach/passing game coordinator Al Harris.
Harris spent the last four years in Dallas as the defensive backs coach and an assistant head coach in 2024. During that time, Harris worked with Wright, who was taken with the 99th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
The former Oregon State cornerback appeared in 32 games across three seasons with the Cowboys, spending most of that time on special teams. He had 37 combined tackles, five pass deflections, a tackle for loss, and an interception.
Wright hasn't put it together yet in the pros after being a top-100 draft pick in 2021. He will likely have to earn his way onto the Bears' 53-man roster with special teams. However, having more experience in the defensive backroom is not a bad thing.
