Bulls may have just found the perfect Josh Giddey trade partner

Sacramento's desperation for a lead guard could give Chicago a massive opportunity in a loaded draft.

The Chicago Bulls are armed with two first-round picks to tip off the Bryson Graham era. They also have more than $60 million in cap space and no rush to compete, so they could absorb expiring deals to acquire even more draft capital.

Graham has already made it loud and clear that he'll focus on a long-term project rather than trying to compete right away. Naturally, that might also mean parting ways with some of the more win-now veterans.

That's why, as much as they should try to keep Josh Giddey in town, chances are other teams will try to get him. However, of all the teams keeping tabs on the Australian playmakers, the Sacramento Kings may be the only franchise with the assets to convince the Bulls to pull the trigger.

The Bulls could send Josh Giddey to Sacramento

In this potential trade scenario, the Bulls would send Giddey to Sacramento in return for the No. 7 pick and DeMar DeRozan. The Bulls would gladly welcome a fan favorite back, though he'd likely be bought out or kept only as a mentor. He's slated to make $25.7 million next season.

The Kings were aiming for one of the top selections, but the basketball gods punished them once again. That said, they might not be ready to bottom out, since they still have Domantas Sabonis, Zach LaVine, and Keegan Murray.

That team has been in the mix for a lead guard for years now. That's pretty ironic, given that they had Tyrese Haliburton and De'Aaron Fox at one point and gave both of them away. Then again, it's the Kings we're talking about here, which is also the only reason they'd even consider trading a top-10 pick in this year's stacked draft.

The Bulls should be more than satisfied with what Giddey brings to the table. He's improved as a shooter, and he's a pass-first guy who'll flirt with a triple-double on a nightly basis. By all means, they should try to keep him unless they receive a Godfather-like offer.

That said, he's not a superstar or a franchise player, and as such, the No. 7 pick in one of the deepest draft classes in recent history should be more than enough for the Bulls to thank him for his services. He would make the Kings much better, though they would still clearly not be good enough to compete in the stacked West. Again, that's just classic Kings.

The Bulls are facing a pivotal offseason in franchise history, and every move could have massive implications. They already have one of the most appealing coaching job openings in the game, and adding yet another top-15 pick to the mix would only make it even better.
