The Colorado Rockies have traded center fielder Brenton Doyle to the White Sox, per Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon of The Athletic. The terms the the deal have not been finalized quite yet, but reports indicate that the deal is currently in medical review. The White Sox are sending right hander Mason Adams and infielder Carlos Vielma to Colorado to complete the deal.
The White Sox outfield has settled into a groove of left-handers. Adding Doyle to the mix gives Venable a natural right handed option who can play center without having to throw a monkey wrench in the mix that they've already found success with.

Doyle brings an elite glove to the outfield. He's a two time Gold-Glover, but his last two seasons have seen him take a bit of a step back. Doyle missed the end of May, all of June, and all but the final day of July. It was a long break that gave Colorado a young option at center. They're sure enough of him that they ended up dealing Doyle to the White Sox.
So what will Doyle look like out of the gate? Playing in a different atmosphere could serve to help him get his game back on track. Who know if Doyle isn't about to rip through Chicago and show his baseball skills. The White Sox have been a power hitting team all season long, and Doyle's only home run of the season happened back in April.
Doyle could possibly be a bust, but he also could lend support to Venable where he really needs it. Whether that be as a pinch-hitter, or as a fourth outfielder, Doyle has the opportunity to breathe some life into his career. The White Sox have been on towering trajectory this season, why not bring Doyle along?
The White Sox are not asking Doyle to save their season, but he does not need to hit like a star to make this gamble worthwhile. If a change of scenery helps him rediscover his bat, Chicago could have found a useful outfielder at exactly the right time.
