Chicago Bears fans are continuing to attempt to recover from the frustration of Sunday's 31-7 blowout loss to the Green Bay Packers. In truth, a loss was overdue, as the Bears found a way to go 2-0 over the previous two weeks, even with Caleb Williams sitting on the sideline. What's interesting about the frustration around this loss is that if three weeks ago you had told Chicago fans Williams would be out for three weeks, a 2-1 record would be looked at as best-case scenario.

The biggest piece of the frustration is the way the loss happened and who it was against. Ben Johnson's Bears haven't been shy about their distaste for the Packers and this tone was set from Johnson's opening presser. Still, the head coach isn't above crediting a great performance even if it is against a rival. This leads us to looking to Johnson's fitting response:

"Fast group, and the safeties are all over the place. The nickel is a really good player. The linebacker, you could see he's doing a great job communicating, making changes. They made adjustments in real time at the line of scrimmage, and the front is playing hard. It's a challenging unit, and they made things very difficult on us, but at the same time, we just didn't execute the plan the way that we're capable of doing. I know that as well"
Ben Johnson

This is the perfect response from a head coach that could easily make excuses that his starting quarterback remained sidelined. It was unquestionably easier for the Packers to take control while Williams helplessly sat and watched Tyson Bagent implode. No question, there was room to make excuses, but Johnson chose the perfect path owning the failure to execute while building up an incredibly strong defensive performance.

Green Bay did an incredible job of exposing all the mistakes that the Jets and Eagles missed the previous two weeks as the Bears built their offense without Williams. It was easier for Green Bay to accomplish this having tape and an understanding of exactly what the franchise was going to attempt to accomplish.

Still, the Chicago head coach isn't pointing any of this out owning the lack of execution while building up the effort of Green Bay's defense. Packers coordinator Jonathan Gannon deserves no shortage of credit here as well scheming up the perfect answers for Chicago's attack and doing so without the benefit of Micah Parsons in the starting lineup.

Johnson is walking the line perfectly of heating up the rivalry and making his feelings on Green Bay known while still being willing to own mistakes and build up a great Packers performance. It simply continues to point to what Bears fans already know and that is the fact they have the perfect leader in place.

As frustrating as Sunday's blowout loss was, it isn't entirely unexpected with Williams sidelined and reminds fans of the importance of the star. Johnson gave the perfect response to this and is the right option to steady the franchise after surviving three weeks without his starting quarterback.
