One of the most underappreciated stories of the Chicago Bears' last two years is just how much of a bargain the franchise found in Caleb Williams. It was the ineptitude of the Carolina Panthers that allowed the quarterback a chance to become the face of the Bears, with The Score's Chris Emma reporting the signal caller's comments reflecting on the trade and what it has meant for Williams' career.

As a reminder, the Bears added Williams in this deal by acquiring a pick that would be the first overall selection when the Panthers endured a miserable 2023 season. Making matters worse for the Panthers is the fact this was far from the the only thing that Carolina gave up in the deal with DJ Moore and the pick that would become Luther Burden going to the Bears along with two second-round picks.
Williams is far from the only one that greatly appreciates Carolina's decision to panic and add a player they are no longer even sure will be an answer at quarterback beyond this season. With this in mind, it is easy to look back and imagine what could've been if the Bears hadn't taken the deal and opted to look for a quarterback a year earlier.

Williams notes in his comments as well the ability to contribute to a historic franchise. This carries no shortage of weight understanding what the Bears have meant to the league and what the expectations are moving forward. It is easy to imagine that things would've gone far differently if it had been Carolina holding onto their pick and choosing to draft the current Chicago star.
No matter the path, there is no denying the Bears are happy with where they are not only in comparison to Carolina, but looking around the league and realizing there is no clear answer to who has a brighter future than Williams. While there are far more accomplished quarterbacks, there isn't a single one that has the youth of the Chicago quarterback as well as the clear coaching and roster building to be a contender for years to come.
Williams is pointing this out in a respectful way and offering the Bears yet another reason to believe in a player that has perfectly represented the franchise and continues to leave Chicago fans wondering just how bright the future might be.
