Bears Vet Now Wants to Return in 2025 After Eberflus Firing
The Chicago Bears revamped their wide receiver room entering the 2024 season. One of the receivers they acquired was veteran Kennan Allen from the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers moved on from Allen because he was unwilling to take a pay cut.
That brought up questions for Bears fans about what Allen thought he was worth because many people were on board with re-signing him if he performed well this season. Allen himself told D.J. Moore and reporters earlier in the season that he had a number in mind for a return to Chicago.
With Allen's recent comments, it seems that he is more than willing to re-sign with the Bears in 2025. On Thursday, Chris Emma reported Allen commented that part of the reason he wants to return to the Bears is Caleb Williams, saying, "His potential is through the roof. ... I think the sky's the limit for his talent."

While most fans can see the potential Williams has, hearing a player of Allen's caliber say that means a lot. Allen was a part of Justin Herbert's development with the Chargers, so he has seen what talented young quarterbacks look like. Allen's endorsement of Williams might mean more than almost anyone else on the team.
Despite his glowing endorsement of Williams, Allen hasn't been having the best season. Through 13 weeks, Allen has recorded 44 receptions on 79 targets for 441 yards and four touchdowns. Allen's low numbers this season aren't all his fault.
Early in the year, former offensive coordinator Shane Waldron wasn't using personnel correctly. Nevertheless, Allen still had opportunities to make plays early in the season and was dropping passes.
Although he has still dropped some passes in the past few weeks, Allen has been playing much better. With how Allen has performed recently, many Bears fans might be on board with resigning Allen as long as the contract isn't too demanding next season.
