This offseason, the Chicago Bears made key additions to the wide receiver room when by signing Olamide Zaccheaus and Devin Duvernay. Zaccheaus will act as the Bears' wide receiver No.3 in 2025, while Duvernay returns kicks and likely is wide receiver No. 4.
Along with these additions, fans are speculating that Chicago may add another receiver later in the draft. If the franchise chooses to go that route, Tyler Scott's roster spot would be in danger.
That said, given general manager Ryan Poles' desire to do right by his players, a draft day trade involving Scott may be in the cards.
Chicago Bears Trade Tyler Scott to the Kansas City Chiefs in Projected Draft Day Trade
Chiefs receive: Tyler Scott
Bears receive: Chiefs 7th-Round picks (No. 251 and No. 257)
In this projected trade, the Bears send Tyler Scott to the Kansas City Chiefs for a 2025 seventh-round pick, which checks in at No. 251.
The University of Cincinnati product's biggest issue has been his hands. As a rookie, he caught only 53% (17/32) of his passes and had some high-leverage drops. His inability to be reliable in the passing game is likely why he played so little in his second season.
Nonetheless, Scott's speed remains intoxicating; all he needs to do is work on his catching. Despite this, Chicago's coaching staff last year (and seemingly Ben Johnson this year) doesn't believe in him.
Kansas City, on the other hand, could be a great fit for Scott. Since Tyreek Hill departed in 2022, the Chiefs have been searching for a receiver who could provide speed. While they attempted to accomplish that by drafting Skyy Moore, he's had the same problems with drops. As a result of these issues, it appears that the Chiefs have given up on Moore.
Even so, Scott provides a bit more upside because he has two more years left on his rookie contract compared to Moore's one year. Given this, the compensation Chicago receives for Scott is logical.
If Poles is able to come to terms on this deal with his former teams, he should definitely pull the trigger.
