Bears' Top RB Trade Target Is Clear with Alvin Kamara Off the Block

With Kamara off the board, the Bears need to turn their attention to this veteran.

D'Andre Swift had his best game of the season in Week 6 when he went off for 175 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown in a win over the Washington Commanders. Yet, that shouldn't take away from the fact that the Chicago Bears need an upgrade in the RB room. Swift continues to be the RB1 despite Kyle Monangai receiving more touches in recent weeks. However, neither player is instilling much confidence in Bears fans as Chicago's rushing offense ranks 18th in the league in total yards and 20th in yards per carry.

That is why there has been some buzz about trading for another RB at the trade deadline. Running backs are generally easier to trade for mid-season and don't cost as much as premium positions. Therefore, Alvin Kamara of the New Orleans Saints has been thrown around as the ideal Bears trade target. On Thursday, however, the star rusher poured cold water on those rumors by saying he doesn't want to go anywhere, per NOF Network on X. Saints reporter Nick Underhill revealed that Kamara said he would "just go drink pina coladas somewhere" if he were traded.

Breece Hall Should Be Bears' Top Target in the Trade Market

That should end all Alvin Kamara trade speculation. That leaves Jets running back Breece Hall as the best option who may be available at the trade deadline. The Jets are 0-6 and are not going anywhere for the fourth straight year of Hall's career. His contract expires at the end of the season, and the Jets would be wise to get draft capital in return for him rather than risk letting him leave in free agency or sign him to a long-term extension, given they haven't exactly done much winning while he was on a rookie-scale contract.

Hall has already made cryptic remarks on social media, raising eyebrows about his desire to move to a new situation. Jets head coach Aaron Glenn has made comments this week dismissing the trade possibility as "rumors" and nothing more than that. Yet, it sounds more like an attempt to increase the asking price rather than a genuine comment about Hall's availability.

The 24-year-old back is the type of versatile playmaker Ben Johnson likes. He has been very effective in the passing game throughout his career. Last year, he made 57 catches for 483 yards and three touchdowns, in addition to the 876 yards he gained on the ground. His career average of 4.6 yards per carry is well above where Swift has been in recent years and where Monangai is to start his career.

That type of boost in the team's ability to make explosive plays should elevate the Bears' offense to the next level.
