Bears Star Suddenly Questionable With New Injury After Friday Practice
The Chicago Bears offense finally got back on track last Sunday against the Green Bay Packers. While much of that can be attributed to new offensive coordinator Thomas Brown, the player also played with more energy.
One guy in particular who looked renewed was veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen. He ended the game with four catches on eight targets for 41 yards. While that's not an amazing stat line, the catches Allen made were in critical situations.
Despite that, at one point in the game, Allen exited with what looked to be a reaggravation of his ankle injury. Thankfully, Allen ended up returning to the game so fans figured he was fine.
That assumption seemed to be true as Allen wasn't on the injury report on Wednesday or Thursday. However, according to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, Allen was limited on Friday because of his ankle.
Allen popping up on the injury report Friday after being okay the whole week isn't good. Typically, when this happens a player's likelihood of playing is significantly less than if they were limited during the whole week.
Hopefully, Allen is able to fight through the pain because the Bears need to continue building on their success from last week.
The other notable player on that list is running back D'Andre Swift. Swift has been dealing with a groin injury the whole week. Swift's groin injury kept him out of practice Wednesday, was limited on Thursday, and was a full participant on Friday.
While the same sentiment fans have toward Allen's injury can be shared for Swift, his groin injury probably affects him a bit more.
Swift is an explosive back who uses speed and his cutting ability to make plays. That said, a groin injury heavily impacts both of those abilities. While the belief is that Swift will play on Sunday, don't be surprised if he doesn't.
