After a promising 4-2 start to the 2024 NFL season, the Chicago Bears have taken a step back. A Week 9 meeting with the Arizona Cardinals saw the Bears pick up an uninspiring 29-9 loss at State Farm Field, marking the team's second consecutive loss in as many weeks.

With Chicago in danger of falling below .500 for the first time since Week 3, fans are wondering if the players are still buying into head coach Matt Eberflus' vision. The Bears have been outscored 47-24 in back-to-back losses and making the playoffs will become more of a long shot the longer that the struggles continue.

Even though Eberflus' job seems secure at the moment, a recent interview from one of his players suggests that the Bears HC is losing his grasp on the locker room.

Bears News: DJ Moore Fails to Endorse Matt Eberflus

Bears wideout DJ Moore spoke about Eberflus in an interview with 670 The Score on Monday morning. When asked if the 54-year-old HC had lost his players, Moore didn't exactly give his coach the biggest endorsement.

"I wanna say no," Moore told the show's co-hosts. "The message yesterday was that we know we’re 4-4 now, it’s just like being 0-0. You've just got to go out there and start stacking wins how we did... The best thing you can do is win and just let the chips fall how they fall after we do so."

If Moore truly had faith in Eberflus, he likely wouldn't have hesitated with his few first words. However, the fact that the veteran receiver's answer was essentially "whatever happens, happens" suggests that the Bears players are beginning to tune out their head coach.

The current campaign marks Eberflus' third with the franchise after coaching the Bears to a 10-24 record in his first two seasons. Even though Chicago failed to make the playoffs under his watch, the fanbase felt optimistic that Eberflus would finally put everything together in 2024 after a productive offseason that saw No. 1 draft pick Caleb Williams and various free agents added to his roster.

Instead of making the playoffs, the Bears are on pace for their fourth consecutive postseason miss. NFL Next Gen Stats are only giving Eberflus & Co. a 9.0% chance of making the playoffs, meaning Chicago will likely need a near-flawless end to the year to end the postseason drought.

Unfortunately, for Eberflus' hopes of turning things around, the Bears' schedule only gets tougher from here on out. According to Tankathon, Chicago's remaining slate is the toughest in the league with its nine remaining opponents averaging a 63.2% win percentage this season.

The Week 10 clash against the New England Patriots could be what decides the remainder of Eberflus' time in the Windy City. The Bears have zero excuses to lose this matchup considering that they're 6.5-point home favorites over the Patriots, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
