It has been a difficult season for Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears. The No. 1 overall pick had high expectations coming into the NFL after the organization surrounded him with high-level playmakers before his rookie campaign. Things didn't go according to the plan in Chicago as they had to part ways with head coach Matt Eberflus mid-season. Now the Bears have lost eight straight and are a disappointing 4-10 heading into the final three weeks of the season.

The most disappointing part of it all is that the offense took a step back from a year ago. The much-criticized offense with Justin Fields under center ranked 18th in terms of points and 20th in yards last season. This year, Chicago is all the way down to 25th in points and dead last in yards.

One of the biggest reasons for that has been the constant beating Williams gets week in and week out. The rookie has been sacked a whopping 58 times this season. That is already the most in franchise history for a single season and the third-most in NFL history for a rookie QB. The second-highest sack total for any signal-caller this year is CJ Stroud with 45.

The offensive line and the turnover of offensive coordinators are obviously easy to blame but Williams himself is not blameless.

On Monday, Williams was sacked twice by the Vikings defense and saw constant pressure against Brian Flores' aggressive scheme. After the game, Williams talked about the toll these hits are taking on his body.

Bears interim head coach Thomas Brown addressed this issue. Per Bears insider Brad Biggs, the coach said that Williams was feeling good heading into Week 16.

Bears News: Caleb Williams Feeling Good Heading into Week 16

The schedule doesn't let up for the Bears. They host the Lions on Sunday, followed by games against the Seahawks and the Packers. They will presumably not be favored in any of those games so they will need Williams in peak form if they want to give their fans another W before the season comes to an end.
