Now that the Chicago Bears have finished their first preseason it is a good time to review the locks, the bubble players and the players on the 90-man roster with no chance of making the team. How many bubble players have a chance to make the team?

Chicago Bears Bubble Players

Quarterback

Locks - 3

Off of Bubble - 1

Miller Moss will go the practice squad.

Running back

Locks - 2

Bubble - 4 (Roschon Johnson, Brittain Brown, Salvon Ahmed, Coleman Bennett)

This looks like four players competing for one spot, with no clear leader.

Wide Receiver

Locks - 5

Bubble - 4 (Scotty Miller, Kaden Davis, Maurice Alexander, Ray Ray McCloud)

Off of Bubble - 2

Pehaps McCloud and Alexander have longer shots to the roster, but the sixth spot is not taken.

Tight End

Locks - 3

Off of Bubble - 4

None of the depth pieces are making a run for the roster.

Offensive Tackles

Locks - 4

Bubble -2 (Kiran Amegadjie, Jedrick Wills)

Off of Bubble - 1

One of Amegadjie or Wills is likely to get cut if they lose the left tackle battle.  Trapilo will make the initial 53-man roster after being activated from the PUP.

Interior Offensive Line

Locks - 5

Bubble - 2 (Jordan McFadden, Caden Barnett)

Off of bubble - 3

Luke Newman is listed as a lock, leaving one of McFadden or Barnett to have a shot.

Edge Rusher

Locks - 3

Bubble - 2 (Jamree Kromah, Daniel Hardy)

Off of bubble - 1

Shemar Turner on PUP

The top three are locks and it gets thin from there.

Interior Defensive Line

Locks - 3

Bubble - 3 (Kentavius Street, Jordan van den Berg, James Lynch)

Off of bubble - 1

All three bubble players could make it.

Linebacker

Locks - 3

Bubble - 4 (Noah Sewell, Keyshaun Elliott, Jack Sanborn, Ruben Hyypolite)

Off of bubble - 4

The Bears have to decide what to do with Sewell and Elliott, who are missing a lot of time, but might not have serious injury timelines.

Cornerback

Locks - 4

Bubble - 3 (Jaylon Jones, Josh Blackwell, Beanie Bishop)

Off of bubble - 2

Kyler Gordon on PUP

The bubble players are competing for work in the slot. Gordon does not have anticipated return timeline.

Safety (3)

Locks - 3

Bubble - 2 (Anthony Johnson, Skyler Thomas)

Off of bubble - 1

Coby Bryant on IR

The room gets thin with Bryant out of the picture. The assumption is Elijah Hicks will be back and make the team.

Specialists (3)

 Locks - 3

In total 41 Locks

3 on PUP or IR

20  off of bubble

26 on Bubble for 12 spots

With nine positions competing for spots and 12 spots available, at least one bubble player per position should have a good chance, with a few spots adding multiple bubble players.
