Bears Reunite With Former RB in Week 10 After Khalil Herbert Trade
The Chicago Bears have a 4-4 record entering Week 10. They've dropped two games in a row, including a 29-9 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
While the teams are preparing for a collision against the New England Patriots, management was making moves on Tuesday ahead of the trade deadline. The Bears shipped out running back Khalil Herbert to the Cincinnati Bengals for a 2025 seventh-round pick.
It appeared that Herbert took a shot at the Bears on social media following the deal, but Chicago wasted no time bringing back a familiar face.
Bears News: Darrynton Evans Was Added to Chicago’s Practice Squad
On Wednesday afternoon, the Bears decided to promote defensive back Ameer Speed to the active roster and signed running back Darrynton Evans to the practice squad.
Back in October 2023, Chicago added Evans to the active roster after he was released from the Miami Dolphins practice squad. He was then let go by Chicago the following November but is heading back to the Windy City a year later.
This is his third time being added to the Bears team, but the departure of Herbert opened up a spot in the running back rotation. The Appalachian State product was selected in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans. In 19 career games, Evans has 62 carries for 246 rushing yards and one touchdown.
The Bears have D'Andre Swift, Roschon Johnson, and Travis Homer as the three active running backs on the roster. Evans now gives them an additional option on the practice squad.
