Khalil Herbert Takes Jab at Bears on Social Media After Being Traded
The NFL trade deadline is at 3 p.m. CST time on Nov. 5. This is the final chance for teams around the league to make acquisitions to improve the roster.
The Chicago Bears are currently 4-4 and decided to make a move on Tuesday morning. The Bears traded running back Khalil Herbert to the Cincinnati Bengals in exchange for a 2025 seventh-round pick.
This isn't shocking for fans who follow the team closely. Herbert's name has come up in trade talks for some time now, and the Bears finally pulled the trigger. The 26-year-old wasted no time going on Twitter and taking a jab at his former team.
Bears News: Khalil Herbert Goes on Twitter as He Responses to Trade
Moments after the trade, Hebert went on Twitter saying, "Thank you God. #WhoDey."
This can be seen as him being happy that he's no longer with the Bears. Herbert was selected in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft and was a quality playmaker in the backfield for the first three seasons, logging 1,775 rushing yards and eight touchdowns.
Despite that production, the Virginia Tech product fell out of favor in the running back rotation in 2024. D'Andre Swift and Roschon Johnson are the top two options in the backfield, leading to Herbert seeing his opportunities slashed.
This season, he's only logged 27 total snaps, notching eight carries for 16 yards and one touchdown.
With one year left on his deal, Herbert's time in Chicago was running out. He now has a chance to join a 4-5 Bengals team and get an opportunity to play with Zack Moss out with a neck injury.
Something that he's been itching for this season.
