Through six weeks of the NFL season, the Chicago Bears' defense has been one of the best in the league. This is thanks in large part to their secondary and the depth they have in it.

That unit was put to the test this past week in London when backups Elijah Hicks and Jaylon Jones started. Both Hicks and Jones played well in place of Jaquan Brisker and Tyrique Stevenson, respectively.

During the game, the Bears' depth was tested even further when nickel cornerback Kyler Gordon left with a hamstring injury. Before exiting, Gordon was having quite a game, flying around to the ball.

Although Gordon's replacement, Josh Blackwell, played well, losing him for an extended amount of time would be a huge blow to the Bears' defense.

According to Courtney Cronin of ESPN, on Monday, head coach Matt Eberflus told reporters, "Gordon got imaging done this morning, but the severity is still unknown. But we are hopeful. We are fortunate that the bye week is here, and we have some extra time."

Eberflus is correct in stating the Bears are lucky this is their bye week, which gives Gordon time to recover. If this week wasn't the Bears' bye, there is a high probability Gordon would miss the upcoming game.

The best-case scenario for Gordon and the Bear's defense is that he only has a pull or strain. if it's anything more serious, Gordon will have to miss multiple games. If that happens, Blackwell will have to continue to step in, which, even though he played well, isn't what the Bears want.
