The Chicago Bears are going to need a bit of patience early in the 2026 season, as Dennis Allen's new- look defense will be actively making adjustments. This was pointed out in a recent FS1 First Things First segment where the table attempted to predict whether or not Chicago would get off to a hot start. Danny Parkins embraced the franchise, pointing out that even if the defense needs a bit of time, the offense can win games in explosive fashion, with this being the expectation moving forward.
It is a fair prediction when you look at the start of Chicago's schedule and consider the clear offensive talent. The Bears start off the regular season with the Carolina Panthers, Minnesota Vikings, Philadelphia Eagles, and New York Jets. At worst, this should be a 3-1 start, with the Bears having the talent to be beat Philadelphia, even with it being an undeniably difficult matchup.
For the Bears, there couldn't reasonably be a better start offered, with the take of Parkins clearly being based on Chicago's incredible level of talent. There should be an unquestioned expectation from the Chicago fanbase that things will get off to a hot start.
Bears Predicted to Get Off to Hot Start Due to Incredible Offensive Talent
A large piece of this are expected leaps from Caleb Williams and Chicago's young talent that should make the roster a better version of last season's unit. The Bears have all the needed pieces in place to be a Super Bowl contender deep in the season and a complete roster. However, early on, there is reason to believe the offense will need to do the heavy lifting as Chicago works to make needed adjustments and Dennis Allen figures out exactly what combination of pieces can be trusted.
Chicago appears to be the roster the best suited to have a chance to bring down the Los Angeles Rams, who enter the 2026 season as heavy NFC favorites. This is for the very reason that Parkins is arguing a hot start with the immense offensive potential rivaling the potential of any core in the league.
For the Bears, it will be interesting to watch how the franchise starts out the season and whether they empty the tank or opt to save their best punch for the more difficult road later in the season. No matter the approach the team chooses there should be an expectation that Chicago gets off to a hot start.
