The Chicago Bears stole two key pieces from the Atlanta Falcons this offseason, signing center Drew Dalman and defensive lineman Grady Jarrett. Both additions helped set the tone for how new head coach Ben Johnson and the Bears' front office would approach the spring and summer: improving the team's depth in the trenches and looking for surprise depth along both lines. However, the two linemen weren't the only former Falcons the Bears added.
Wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus rounded out the group of former Falcons added to the Bears' roster. The addition isn't making many headlines, but it has a chance to be the most underrated move Chicago made in the 2025 offseason.
The Bears Added Underrated Depth at the Receiver Position
Zaccheaus was a big piece of the Washington Commanders' surprise playoff run last season, finishing with over 500 receiving yards. This is the second time in the veteran's career this number has been reached, with the pass-catcher's best season coming as a Falcon in 2022. This is in no way to suggest the undersized target is poised for a breakout into stardom or is going to become a primary target. Rather, it points out just how underrated the veteran has been for two different organizations. Zaccheaus is going to put incredible pressure on the defense and require the secondary to play honestly.
Chicago added an underrated piece that is going to help make life so much easier for Rome Odunze and D.J. Moore. Having the speed option is going to give Caleb Williams another security blanket he can trust on key downs. Add in the talent at tight-end and the Bears are going to have an incredibly deep playbook when it comes to who Williams can target when the team needs it most.
Adding Zaccheaus gives fans yet another reason to believe that this team is going to finally return to relevance. The receiver is an underrated piece who is going to come in and quietly contribute to an offense that already has all of the needed talent to return to the playoffs.
The veteran receiver is an important piece of this despite not demanding the same headlines of Chicago's star additions. Give the Bears credit for an approach that is leaving no stone unturned and bringing in impressive depth to each position.
