Dating back to last season, Maxx Crosby's name has popped up multiple times when talking about potential Chicago Bears reinforcements. They even reportedly inquired about his availability last season, but to no avail.
Considering that, and with the Las Vegas Raiders holding onto their superstar for a while longer, it wouldn't be much of a surprise to see this team rejoin the mix to acquire his services at some point in the season.
That's why, now that they know how he feels about Caleb Williams, the Bears should exploit that admiration when they make a compelling trade pitch to acquire him. Clearly, he has nothing but respect for the Bears' quarterback.

“Caleb, obviously we send our wishes,” Crosby said on his podcast. “Hopefully everything’s smooth and it’s nothing serious. But everyone has an opinion about ‘Oh why do you react this way to this certain type of thing?’ He might never pulled a hammy in his life and nobody. …I’ve had one hammy thing a while back and like that s*** will freak you the f*** out when it first happens. So in his head, you’d probably imagine like, oh s***. Something really bad just happened and you have all these emotions and things going on. So you know, it’s part of the game and that’s how it is. But we, at the Rush, we send love to Caleb and we know he’ll bounce back.”
Williams is used to the clowning and mockery. He's never been too vocal about that; he just lets his game do the talking, and he should hold bragging rights over most of the teams he's faced in his young career.
So, while he won't lose any sleep over this incident, this definitely shouldn't go unnoticed. Crosby is a fierce, passionate competitor, but he's also a vocal guy who lets his team know exactly what he wants.
Crosby's frustration with the Raiders led to his failed attempt to leave this offseason. Ultimately, things didn't work out, and both parties buried the hatchet to continue their partnership, but who's to say they won't reconsider their marriage in the future?
The Raiders' 2-0 start to the season is as surprising as it is unsustainable. They'll struggle sooner rather than later, and while the honeymoon phase is over, maybe Crosby will keep an eye out in the Windy City and see what Caleb Williams is up to.
Granted, it's not like he has a trade clause in his contract, so technically, he won't have a say in his landing spot. That said, the Raiders have a ton of respect and want to do right by him, so what if he lets them know he wants to play with the former No. 1 pick, one of the most electric players in today's game?
At the end of the day, Williams' impact on the organization goes well beyond what he can do on the field. His larger-than-life aura is a big draw, and his unmatched talent should have plenty of stars wanting to team up with him one day.
This is just speculation and wishful thinking, but what if he's the one who tilts the scale in Chicago's favor once the Crosby sweepstakes resume?
