The Chicago Bears parting ways with DJ Moore in the 2026 offseason was understandable after the statistical regression and questions around a fit in Ben Johnson's offense. However, there is no denying that the decision has turned up the pressure on Rome Odunze and left many fans wondering if a meaningful move at the position should be made. For Odunze, it was an underwhelming 2025 season that saw the pass catcher drop four balls and catch only 44 of 87 targets.
While this wasn't a bad season it unquestionably didn't live up to expectations of stardom. For the Bears, this should give the team at least some level of curiosity when it comes to a potential free agency addition. At the top of the position in remaining options is former Kansas City Chief and Miami Dolphin Tyreek Hill.
The veteran receiver is coming off a season-ending injury and has seen his market remain surprisingly quiet. Chicago should view this as an opportunity to at least explore whether or not Hill would be willing to join the Bears roster on a bargain deal. One that would instantly take pressure off Odunze and give Johnson's offense an elite weapon.
Whether this puts unfair pressure on Caleb Williams in dealing with a big personality in Hill is the only potential downside to considering the signing. The receiver consistently made waves in Miami, and for a Bears team that appears incredibly cohesive, that has to be a clear concern addressed before you seriously consider making the move.
Bears Should Consider Taking Pressure Off Rome Odunze by Signing Tyreek Hill
If Chicago doesn't view this as a problem, you're adding an elite weapon that is consistently going to stretch the field. What makes this so exciting is considering the chances Hill will create underneath as well as the home run shots that Williams can hit to both Hill and Luther Burden, with the veteran's unique skillset demanding so much respect.
To put it simply, there really isn't a downside to adding Hill into this offense from a strictly on-the-field perspective. Hill offered an elite season as recently as 2023 when the pass catcher had 1,799 receiving yards to go along with 13 touchdowns. Chicago would be adding this potential ceiling at what would be a bargain with Hill coming off an injury-shortened season.
More importantly, you're taking pressure off Odunze and allowing the Chicago pass catcher to continue to be a part of a cast of weapons instead of facing the pressure of being the primary target.
For the Bears, it would be an exciting final offseason addition and would clearly wipe away concerns around the production lost in the 2026 offseason. Looking at Hill's perspective, you would have a chance to join an elite offensive system and one of the most talented young quarterbacks in the league, it is simply far too exciting for both sides not to explore in the coming weeks.
