The Chicago Bears are heading into the 2026 offseason with the expectation that star receiver DJ Moore could be traded. This is due to declining performance, a massive cap hit, and the emergence of pass catchers Rome Odunze, Luther Burden, and Colston Loveland, all of whom are on rookie deals, making a potential trade all the more appealing.

One potential landing spot for Moore has just presented itself after former Chicago offensive coordinator Declan Doyle left the Bears to call plays for Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens. Not only is it hard to fault Doyle for this decision, but it creates a clear opportunity for the Bears to trade Moore.

Jackson is coming off a down year by his lofty standards and clearly needs a second option at receiver. Moore, at his best, would be the primary option, allowing Zay Flowers to slide into the second receiver role, giving the Ravens a true one-two punch. It makes sense when you consider the clear need and Chicago's desire to open up cap space and clear the way for Burden and Odunze to continue to develop.

Looking at Baltimore's cap space, it appears the franchise has more than enough to get a deal done with Spotrac projecting $22.6 million in open space. This is a number that could easily be manipulated to take on Moore's contract and give the receiver a chance at a fresh start. This isn't just about what is best for the Bears, but for Moore as well.

Bears Parting Ways with Declan Doyle Created Perfect DJ Moore Landing Spot

Moore's yardage total has declined each of the past two seasons, falling to 682 receiving yards in 2025. This is a far cry from the 1,364 yards that Moore put up in the 2023 season before the franchise opted to bring in Caleb Williams. It is clear that the two lack the necessary chemistry and would benefit from turning the page.

The star receiver will have a chance to rewind to his days of elite production, joining Doyle's Baltimore offense. Jackson badly needs another reliable target at the position, with Rashod Bateman currently his second most reliable receiver. Adding Moore changes this and pushes Bateman into becoming the third option, and should complete a Baltimore attack that has been lacking a star at the receiver position for the majority of Lamar's tenure.

For Chicago, the most important aspect of this is clearing cap space with a trade of Moore after June t, opening up $24.5 million in cap space. When you look at the pass catcher's declining production and consider the clear need for the Bears to open up further salary space, it is a problem with an obvious solution. One that Doyle might have just solved if the offensive coordinator could make a push to reunite with a star who clearly fits Baltimore's offseason needs.
