The Chicago Bears returned to Halas Hall, once again, last week to kick off their annual training camp. The Bears' rookie players were the first to report on Saturday before their veteran counterparts joined the mix on Tuesday, setting the stage for head coach Ben Johnson's first practices on Wednesday.
With practices starting up, it won't be long until the Bears begin to trim to fat to prepare for Johnson's inaugural campaign behind the bench. In fact, Chicago announced a pair of roster cuts before this summer's camp practices could even begin.
Bears Cut DB Alex Cook, DL Jereme Robinson on Eve of 1st Training Camp Practice
According to Marquee Sports Network's Scott Bair, the Bears made a slew of roster transactions on Tuesday afternoon, which included cutting defensive back Alex Cook and defensive lineman Jereme Robinson. Chicago then used the newly open roster spots to add DB Tre Flowers and DL Tanoh Kpassagnon.
Bears made the following transactions:

Cook, 26, is a former undrafted DB who signed a reserve/future contract with the Bears back in January. The former Washington product failed to impress his coaches during his stints with the New York Giants and Carolina Panthers, and that trend evidently continued in the Windy City, judging by how swiftly he was cut from the 90-man roster.
Meanwhile, Robinson was one of the handful of undrafted free agents whom the Bears signed after the 2025 NFL draft. Chicago fans were excited to see what the rookie pass rusher could do after amassing 14.0 sacks throughout his Jayhawks tenure; however, it's clear that the rookie minicamp and organized team activities were all Johnson's staff needed to see to come to Wednesday's conclusion.
In the meantime, it'll be interesting to see if Flowers and Kpassagnon have more success than Cook and Robinson did. Flowers is a former 2018 fifth-round pick by the Seattle Seahawks who has 22 defended passes and four interceptions in 95 games, whereas Kpassagnon has amassed 16.5 sacks and 94 solo tackles in 104 outings.
An experienced roster is necessary for success in the NFL, and replacing Cook and Robinson with Flowers and Kpassagnon gives Johnson two more proven veterans he can trust. Whether or not the newly signed duo eventually cracks the 53-man roster remains to be seen as Chicago's training camp continues.
