Bears UDFA Disruptor Has the Best Chance to Make Chicago's Roster

When it comes to this year's crop of UDFA rookies, one promising pass rusher has a better shot than his peers of cracking the Chicago Bears' 53-man roster.

The Chicago Bears' organized team activities (OTAs) are almost here, despite it feeling like head coach Ben Johnson was only hired yesterday. This year's free agency period and 2025 NFL draft have brought a plethora of new faces to the Windy City, and Bears fans can't wait to see which of them eventually ends up on Johnson's first 53-man roster.

The Bears also signed a handful of undrafted free agents following last month's draft in Green Bay, WI. Although some of those unselected rookies will likely be nothing more than warm training camp bodies, one of Chicago's UDFAs has as good a chance as anyone else to crack the initial 53-man squad.

UDFA EDGE Jereme Robinson Could Make Bears' 53-Man Roster

Several of the Bears' UDFAs signings have the fanbase excited, especially former Kansas pass rusher Jereme Robinson. After Chicago's pass rush was nothing to write home about in 2024 (68.9 Pro Football Focus grade, 16th), Robinson's presence could be what the unit needs to help turn things around.

Robinson is a versatile defensive lineman who can operate as a tackle and EDGE depending on what his coaches need from him. His openness to playing in various situations resulted in a solid five-year run with the Jayhawks, culminating in 14.0 sacks, 70 solo tackles, six defended passes, five forced fumbles, and a trio of fumble recoveries in 53 contests.

That's without mentioning the 78 career pressures he generated, 22 of which came while playing 398 snaps on the Kansas D-line's exterior last season.

The 6-foot-2, 264-pound rookie certainly has the frame to be an NFL pass rusher, and his non-stop motor will only further help him back that statement up. His relentlessness on the field could make him an immediate favorite among the Bears' coaching staff once OTAs begin, and it likely won't take fans long after that to fall in love with his smash-mouth play style.

At the end of the day, Robinson's journey will be fascinating to watch as the Bears' offseason schedule starts to heat up again. He isn't a threat to the likes of Montez Sweat or Dayo Odeyingbo, but the ex-Kansas product is more than talented enough to compete with someone like fellow UDFA rookie EDGE Xavier Carleton for one of the final roster spots.

Robinson's chances of cracking Chicago's roster will be clearer after OTAs wrap up. If he survives, he could play a big role in the Bears potentially surpassing their projected 2025 win total, which currently sits at 8.5 victories with the Under being favored (-140) on FanDuel Sportsbook.
