For years, the Green Bay Packers held bragging rights over the Chicago Bears. It reached such a low point that Aaron Rodgers self-claimed ownership of the franchise and, for a brief moment, the Bears' Wikipedia page concurred.

Fortunately for the fans, those days seem to be in the rearview mirror. The Bears are trending back up, and balance is restoring in the NFC North. In fact, Caleb Williams is 3-2 against the Packers, including 1-0 in the playoffs.

That's why, after splitting the season series and taking them down in the Wild Card round last season, Bears young star Colston Loveland is already embracing this historic rivalry. When asked about that, he compared it to how locked in everyone was to beat Ohio State when he played for Michigan.

Colston Loveland already knows what it takes to beat the Packers

“As far as in the building, ‘What are you doing to beat Ohio State every day,’ that’s how it was in Michigan,” Loveland said on the Bussin' With the Boys podcast. “Every TV, everything. That’s how it is at the Bears. Everyone’s only talking about the Packers. You can’t go a day without talking about them, talking about beating them, talking about the bad things. It’s very comparable.”

Loveland spent his college days in one of the toughest programs in football. He knew that, sometimes, beating the Buckeyes was all that mattered, maybe even more than Bowl games or the CFP.

That's how life has been for Bears fans for years. However, beating the Packers doesn't have to be their Super Bowl anymore. For the first time in years, they actually have legitimate Super Bowl aspirations, and they're fresh off taking over the division.

Loveland will play a huge role in ending the Packers' supremacy over the Bears. He already showed what he can do last season, hauling in 15 catches for 196 yards and one score in his three games vs. the lifelong rivals.

He was instrumental in ending the Packers' season, registering eight receptions for 137 yards and a crucial two-point conversion. And, after closing out the campaign on a high note after a slow start to his career, Packers fans should be used to that type of production every time he's on the other side of the field.

The NFC North is a bloodbath, and everyone will be aiming for the Bears' crown in 2026 and beyond. Ben Johnson's team isn't perfect by any means, but they may have the strongest foundation and the most talent in the division.

Add a city, a fan base, and an organization that's absolutely obsessed with taking down their most hated rival after so many years of helplessness, and those matchups with the Packers will be instant classics from now on. Who knows? Maybe Caleb Williams will also buy some stock in the divisional rivals, like Rodgers once did.
