Bears Announce Big Starting QB News Amid Change Speculation
By Cem Yolbulan
After suffering three straight defeats, the Chicago Bears are 4-5 for the season. They significantly lowered their chances of a postseason appearance as they sit at the bottom of the NFC North. With their first division game coming up in Week 11, the Bears have a chance to start turning things around against the Packers on Sunday.
One of the biggest questions leading up to the game was about the changes the coaching staff and the front office would make. The first change came earlier in the week when they fired Shane Waldron as the offensive coordinator. There have been rumors of a potential change at quarterback as well after ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that it was a possibility.
Bears head coach Matt Eberflus nipped these rumors in the bud on Wednesday, per Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic. Caleb Williams will start against Green Bay.
NFL News: Caleb Williams Will Start for the Chicago Bears in Week 11
This is a big sigh of relief for Bears fans. As disappointing as the offense has been, it's impossible to argue that Tyson Bagent would give the Bears a better chance of winning. It would have been a massive mistake to bench Williams after nine games in his rookie campaign.
Williams will have an uphill battle against the Packers on Sunday. Not only are the Bears 5.5-point home underdogs per FanDuel Sportsbook, but they have lost ten straight to Green Bay. In fact, they have only beaten the Packers once since November 2015.
If the Bears want to salvage anything from their disappointing season, they need to win on Sunday. Caleb Williams under center instead of Bagent is a good place to start.
