Chicago Bears 53-man roster projection after preseason Week 1
Quarterback (3)
Caleb Williams, Tyson Bagent, Case Keenum
The Bears may try to trade Bagent, but he played poorly in Week 1of the preseason and got hurt in his second week. He will stay with the Bears.
Running back (3)
D’Andre Swift, Kyle Monangai, Rocshon Johnson
Ahmed has made a big push, but Ben Johnson made it clear he values special teams and blocking in a third back. That means it will be Johnson. Â
Wide Receiver (5)
Rome Odunze, Luther Burden, Kalif Raymond, Zavion Thomas, Jahdae Walker
The answer to Scotty Miller against Kaden Davis might be none of the above. What might change that is the injury status of Zavion Thomas. If he misses time, they might want a sixth receiver on the roster.Â
Tight End (3)
Colston Loveland, Cole Kmet, Sam Roush
It continues to be hard to justify a fourth tight end making the Bears roster.Â
Offensive Tackles (4)
Braxton Jones, Kiran Amegadjie, Darnell Wright, Theo Benedet

Braxton Jones will start Week 1, and Trapilo will be placed on the IR with a designation to return. This allowed him to practice in camp, but also sit out the first four weeks without taking up a roster spot.Â
Interior Offensive Line (6)
Garrett Bradbury, Joe Thuney, Jonah Jackson, Luke Newman, Logan Jones, Jordan McFadden
McFadden started at left guard with Joe Thuney and Luke Newman out. It appears it is coming down to McFadden against Caden Barnett for the last spot.Â
Edge Rusher (5)
Montez Sweat, Austin Booker, Dayo Odeyingbo, Marcus Davenport, James Lynch
Shemar Turner on PUP**
Turner will not be back in the first six weeks. So, the team will play Lynch in the role they intended Turner to play. More than that, the signing of Davenport gives them five legitimate options who can play in a rotation.Â
Interior Defensive Line (5)
Gervon Dexter, Grady Jarrett, Neville Galimore, Kentavius Street, Jordan van den Berg,
Kentavius Street appears to have locked down the third spot, and rookie sixth-round pick Jordan van den Berg has locked up a spot as well.Â
Linebacker (5)
TJ Edwards, Devin Bush, D’Marco Jackson, Ruben Hyypolite, Jack Sanborn
Keyshaun Elliott, Noah Sewell on PUP**
The only real question here is Elliott, the rookie fifth-round pick. Does he return and take up a roster spot.Â
Cornerback (7)
Jaylon Johnson, Tyrique Stevenson, Cam Lewis, Terell Smith, Josh Blackwell, Malik Muhammad, Jaylon Jones
Kyler Gordon on PUP**
The team is not entirely healthy in the secondary, which is why they might want to keep seven players. Jones against Beanie Bishop could decide the last spot. Â

Thomas has been great in the preseason and has special teams potential. This, plus a thin room, could lock him down.
