Adam Schefter's latest Bears report should have Chicago fans concerned

The NFL insider believes the Bears' move to Hammond, Indiana is more than just leverage.

Adam Schefter recently made comments from his sources indicating that the Bears are in fact moving to Hammond, Indiana. This comes in the wake of the Bears Board of Directors announcing last Friday that they'd voted to move forward with the Hammond project. Though many in Chicago feel that this is merely a bluff to get the Illinois deal that they want, Schefter usually delivers fact rather than fiction.

"His exact words to me, and I read them to you from his text. Cause I'm like 'is this real, are they moving to Indiana?'. He said "Yeah, it is. It's not a bluff. There is more work to do, but barring anything strange, it's a done deal. That's what he said. And then he wrote, his words again, Illinois F***ed it up. The politics are unbelievable in that state."

The Bears leaving Illinois no longer feels impossible

This is going to be a tough pill for many Chicago fans to swallow. Though I'm convinced that many of these fans wouldn't believe it if George Halas himself came back from the grave to give the announcement. Schefter is an extremely trusted source in the NFL media. He very well could be the top source. When he reports on NFL matters, they're true. It's that simple.

This isn't just fan drama anymore. The team's board has voted, Hammond's mayor is doing interviews about it, and the Bears are actively working to move the whole organization there. If the team is bluffing, this is a very very expensive bluff. And it's only going to get more expensive.

Many fans won't be able to disconnect their association with Soldier Field to the Bears. Through the history of the entire franchise, there's only been one place to call home. It may not gather the level of nostalgia that say Wrigley Field gets, but it's still the team's historical home.

Schefter can certainly be wrong. This isn't an official announcement, nor is it anything further than additional anonymous detail on the inner workings. But Schefter is normally the guy that spreads truth. It's not every day that he's wrong about something he's reporting. It's not completely set in stone yet, but Chicago fans should brace for it, because the Bears are absolutely moving to Indiana.
