The Chicago Bears improved to 5-2 after an impressive 30-24 victory over the New England Patriots. Who are the players who stepped up and looked much better in Week 7 than they have in previous weeks?
5 Chicago Bears who stepped up to beat the New England Patriots
Colston Loveland
Loveland was off to a slow start with the Bears. However, if the last two weeks are any indication, he is about to finish the season strong. Loveland had six catches for 65 yards and a touchdown in Week 6 and followed that up with seven catches for 69 yards and a touchdown in Week 7.
Williams trusted him and went to him repeatedly in big moments.
Luther Burden
Burden had a huge 58-yard reception to set up the Bears' first scoring drive. He added a touchdown reception himself. In total, he had four catches for 130 yards. Burden also added seven rushing yards on one attempt. Caleb Williams said during the week he needed to get Burden the ball earlier and Burden showed him why.
Dillon Thieneman
Thieneman is another player who is struggling to put together big games. After recording his first career sack in the Bears Week 6 win against the Falcons, Thieneman followed that up with another sack in Week 7 against the Patriots. He is their best coverage player and has hit the ground running as a pass rusher.
The Bears have shuffled safeties around him throughout the year. They cut Xavier Woods, who started next to him earlier in the year. To get through all of the changes and finish strong is quite impressive.
Kyler Gordon
It was going to be hard for Gordon to follow up such a strong debut to his 2026 season. While he did not record three sacks, he did notch his fourth sack of the season on the Bears' opening drive. He added another pressure and had four tackles in run support. When Gordon is on the field, he makes plays.
D’Marco Jackson
Jackson has had to start in place of T.J. Edwards the past two weeks, and it feels like the team has not missed a step. Jackson recorded a timely interception in the red zone to turn a Patriots drive that could have ended in points into a turnover. Edwards will likely be back soon, but this is the second year in a row that Jackson has been hard to take off the field.
