4 Bulls Entering Their Final Season With Chicago in 2024-25
It's been a long time coming, but the 2024-25 NBA season is nearly here. After the preseason wraps up in the coming days, the Chicago Bulls will begin their journey to a potential postseason return when they open the regular season on the road against the New Orleans Pelicans on Oct. 23.
Frustration is mounting in Chicago, though, after the Bulls failed to qualify for the last two postseasons. Another lackluster performance would likely bring more changes to the Windy City and not everyone is guaranteed to return for the 2025-26 campaign.
With that in mind, here are four Bulls who might be entering their last season in Chicago.
1. Zach LaVine, SG/SF
Chicago fans saw more of Zach LaVine in street clothes than they did in a Bulls jersey last season. The veteran wing was limited to 25 games due to a foot injury, which also prevented the franchise from dealing him ahead of the trade deadline.
Trade rumors fired up again once the NBA offseason arrived, however, a deal never materialized. While the Bulls did field some interest in LaVine's services, the $89 million remaining on his contract — along with last season's injury — likely dissuaded any potential suitors from pulling the trigger.
But even though LaVine will be a Bull on opening night doesn't necessarily mean he won't be traded.
Any interested teams could be waiting until LaVine plays some regular season games before picking up the phone to call the Bulls. Although he's been healthy enough to play some preseason action, it's not secret that exhibitions don't compare to the regular-season grind.
If the Bulls look like they're going to miss the playoffs (again), moving LaVine will be a top priority. Chicago has been due for a real rebuild for the last few years and moving the two-time NBA All-Star would be a quick way to begin the process.
Considering how hard the Bulls worked to trade him last season, it's hard to imagine LaVine being back with the franchise in 2025.
