With the Chicago Bears' 2026 draft class in the books, attention will begin to shift to undrafted free agent signings and who might have a chance to make the final roster. Head coach Ben Johnson has a recent track record of success with undrafted free agents, with Jahdae Walker and Tyson Bagent standing out as recent hits. Turning the clock back to Johnson's days with the Lions, Craig Reynolds serves as another example.
Keeping this in mind, it is not outside the box to believe more than one of their recent undrafted FA signings could make the team's final roster. Looking at the potential roster battles and moves, three names stand out as having the best chance to make Chicago's final roster. Starting with a playmaker who had a case to be drafted and clearly fits the Bears' offense.
1. Coleman Bennett, RB, Kennesaw State
The rusher has zero chance of displacing Kyle Monangai or D'Andre Swift; however, the depth chart after this is more open than many fans realize. Roschon Johnson hasn't been impressive over the past two seasons, and the rest of the team's depth is completely unproven. Bennett can fight for a depth spot and prove his worth by contributing on special teams and perhaps as an occasional change-of-pace rusher.
Bennett had 764 rushing yards in his final college season, but what could easily make the Bears' coaching staff fall in love with the rusher is the physicality he offers. We've already seen one surprise story under Johnson at the position with the development of Monangai; there is a real scenario where Bennett makes the final roster and finds his way into a meaningful depth role for the Bears.
2. Miller Moss, QB, Louisville
Moss has to be included here, not based on his skill level of the Bears' need at the position, but for an obvious connection. Moss was a college teammate of Caleb Williams, and it is telling that the Bears scooped up the signal-caller so quickly. It appears from the outside to be a move to reunite the two players and better support Chicago's franchise quarterback.
With this in mind, it is very much on the table that the Bears look to take advantage of Bagent's current standing and trade the quarterback if injury strikes. There is also the chance that Case Keenum starts to show his age and is moved into a coaching role. Regardless of where the opening is created, Moss now has an opportunity to prove he deserves a spot in the organization. The fact that Moss should have the support of the most important player in the QB room doesn't hurt his chances, either. It wouldn't be at all surprising to see the undrafted free agent find his way onto the roster as the emergency quarterback option.
3. Jaren Kump, OL, Utah
So often in the 2026 season, it seemed as if Caleb Williams was under pressure despite the notable improvements along the offensive line. There are still question marks at left tackle and an obvious need to improve the team's depth. This is what gives Kump a clear chance to make the roster if he puts together a standout camp and preseason performance.
The Utah product has experience playing all over the offensive line, inside and out, as well as experience at center. For one roster spot, this provides incredible value if Kump can show he is anything close to capable at the next level. Considering Johnson's elite development system thus far, it should be considered as a real possibility and would help with roster flexibility moving into the 2026 season.
