3 Bears Who Could Be Benched in Second Half of Season

The Chicago Bears are currently in the middle of a slump. If these three players don't step up soon, they might end up riding the bench down the stretch.

2. Tyrique Stevenson, CB

Second-year cornerback Tyrique Stevenson has given Bears fans headaches throughout the 2024 campaign.

The frustration began when Stevenson was caught goofing off and not paying attention on the game-ending Hail Mary play during Week 8's loss to the Washington Commanders. The avoidable mistake caused the ex-Miami product to be removed from the starting lineup in hopes that it would serve as a teachable moment.

Much to Bears fans' dismay, Stevenson's play didn't improve when he started against the New England Patriots in Week 11. He surrendered 3-of-4 targets for 19 yards, a 124.0 passer rating, and the only touchdown Chicago surrendered in the 19-3 loss.

Stevenson might be a former second-round pick, however, he isn't looking that way at the moment. He's failing to make big defensive plays when the Bears need them and it's getting to the point where opposing teams know they can target him for an easy completion.

If he can't turn things around soon, the Bears could give Stevenson's playing time to someone else.
