Cubs Rumors: 3 insane trade packages for David Bednar
The Chicago Cubs made it clear that they are not going to be trading Marcus Stroman or Cody Bellinger ahead of the deadline.
Of course, that could be a lie or things could change but they have already made buyer-type trades so it seems as if that news is real.
The Cubs might not be done making trades either. They could consider more help in the bullpen which every team in the league could use.
One player that may or may not be available is David Bednar of the Pittsburgh Pirates. There is still debate out there if he will be moved but you’d think teams will at least try.
If the Chicago Cubs wanted to add a great closer like this, one of these three packages might get it done:
Trade One
The Chicago Cubs would love to add a stud pitcher like David Bednar.
The Chicago Cubs, since they are buyers now, could use a legit closer for the rest of the season. If they want to go on a run in the division or wild card race, that is something to think about.
They could move on from some of their good prospects if they want to land a stud closer like David Bednar. This package might actually be on the lighter side compared to others.
Jackson Ferris is the number 8 prospect in the Cubs system right now. He is a left-handed pitcher that was drafted in the second round of the 2022 MLB Draft.
As for Caleb Kilian, he is the number 16 guy in the system right now. He was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 8th round of the 2019 MLB Draft. Of course, the Giants gave Kilian to the Cubs for Kris Bryant.
He made his MLB debut in 2022 but is back in AAA working on some things. He could be a starter or reliever in the big leagues but that remains to be seen. A package like this for Bedanar makes a ton of sense.
