As of right now, it seems as if the Chicago Cubs are going to be buyers at the 2023 MLB Trade Deadline. Whether that is right or wrong can be debated amongst the fanbase.

One of the things they might want to buy right now is a starting pitcher for their rotation. Adding another guy to that group could really help them reach their goal of making the playoffs.

There are some good ones out there but they are going to be pricy. The Cubs might have to move some good prospects in order to consider these guys but anything can happen.

These are the starting pitchers still left to be realistically traded that the Cubs could still target before Tuesday’s deadline:

128. . SP. Chicago White Sox. Dylan Cease. 84. player

The Chicago White Sox may consider giving Dylan Cease to the Chicago Cubs.

The Chicago Cubs could go really high on the market and target Dylan Cease of the Chicago White Sox. It isn’t confirmed that he is available but any elite offer might get the White Sox to part ways with their ace.

Wouldn’t that just be life coming around full circle? Dylan Cease was originally a Cubs prospect before they traded him to the White Sox with Eloy Jimenez for Dylan Cease.

Now, if the White Sox decide to move him, he’d be perfect for the Cubs. There is a chance that he’d even be their game-one starter if they ended up making the playoffs.

The White Sox would have a high price on Cease if they move him but it is worth thinking about for the Cubs. He could be the best pitcher traded at this year’s deadline. Buying a player like Cease also tells the team that you are all in which could be positive in more ways than one.
