The Chicago White Sox are not taking any half-measures in their sell-off as the Major League Baseball Trade Deadline approaches on August 1.

White Sox general manager Rick Hahn told reporters on Wednesday that more moves were expected and we now know what the next move is for the team.

The White Sox traded veteran starting pitcher Lance Lynn and relief pitcher Joe Kelly to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Despite the struggles that Lynn has had with the White Sox this season, there has been plenty of interest in the veteran starting pitcher as the deadline approaches.

Lynn has struggled with the home run ball this season as his 6.47 ERA would indicate but has continued to demonstrate his ability to miss bats. Lynn is averaging just under 11 strikeouts per 9 innings pitched and has struck out 26.9 percent of the hitters that he has faced this season.

The White Sox starting rotation has dramatically changed over the course of the past week with Lucas Giolito now pitching for the Los Angeles Angels and now Lynn moving on to the Dodgers.

The Chicago White Sox bolstered their minor league pitching depth with the Lance Lynn trade.

Outfielder Trayce Thompson returns to the White Sox as part of the trade. In 87 plate appearances with the Dodgers this season, Thompson is slashing .155/.310/.366 with a wRC+ of 92. Thompson has flashed power over the course of the past two seasons as he hit 13 home runs with the Dodgers last season (.268 ISO) and has 5 this season (.211 ISO).

Nick Nastrini was rated as the 9th overall prospect in the Dodgers system and is believed to be the centerpiece of the deal for the White Sox. In 17 starts at the Double-A level this season, Nastrini is averaging just over 10 strikeouts per 9 innings pitched.

Leasure is not currently listed among the Dodgers’ Top-30 prospects but has impressed in Double-A this season by striking out nearly 40 percent of the hitters he has faced. Leasure’s ability to miss bats could have him on the fast track to the Major League level.
