Cody Whitehair won’t be on the Chicago Bears roster in 2024

The first player who won’t be around next year, that we’ll cover, is interior lineman Cody Whitehair. He has a contract that runs through the 2024 season, however the Bears can get out of it next year and save a little over $9 million against the cap.

Whitehair also doesn’t fit the current direction of the Bears. He’ll be a great asset to the team in 2023, but as this team gets younger and heads further into the future, it’ll be clear which of the aging veterans won’t be around much longer. Whitehair is going to be 32 during the 2024 season, and the Bears could go out and get younger with all of their draft capital next year.

D’Onta Foreman won’t be on the Chicago Bears roster in 2024

Running back D’Onta Foreman was a phenomenal 1-year signing for the Bears this offseason. He fits the style of running Chicago lost in David Montgomery; a guy who runs between the tackles and runs hard. Chicago is going to, once again, have a dominant run game.

The Bears also drafted Roschon Johnson, this year though, and Johnson is a similar, physical runner. The youth Chicago now has with Johnson is good enough to take over Foreman’s spot, but also potentially Khalil Herbert’s lead role, in the future.

Johnson could absolutely take over the RB1 role within the next year, which would make Foreman expendable and not necessarily a priority to keep around.
