The Chicago Blackhawks are a team in transition. We have already seen them move off Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane. Now, it is time for a new generation of stars to take over the team.

We are going to see kids like Connor Bedard, Lukas Reichel, and Kevin Korchinski amongst others start to become the stars on the team when it comes to on-ice play.

Well, the on-ice product isn’t the only thing that is going through a bit of transition. Over the last few years, we’ve seen legends like Pat Foley and Ed Olczyk leave the organization. They were one of the greatest play-by-play and color commentators in franchise history.

Now, things have changed a little bit. There have been some new names in and out since the change but there is a very good one being added.

The Chicago Blackhawks made an outstanding broadcast decision this week.

Darren Pang is going to come in and be the new color commentator alongside play-by-play man Chris Vosters.

He has been an analyst both on the national level and with the St. Louis Blues over the years but now his time has come to help call Chicago Blackhawks games on TV.

It is an awesome thing for him as the Blackhawks were the first ever team that he covered in this league as he did it in the early 1990s on the radio. You might remember Hawkvision from those days. Pang was a big part of that coverage.

Of course, Darren Pang was also a goaltender for the Blackhawks back in his younger days. He played 81 games for the organization from 1984-1989. During the 1987-88 season, he was so good that he came in third place for the Calder Trophy as the league’s top rookie.

Pang’s broadcast style is something that Chicago Blackhawks fans will love. He gets very excited about big goals, saves, and anything in between.

He is magnificent at his job and it is going to be so fun having him in Chicago after all these years. This is an outstanding hire for the Chicago Blackhawks as they move on to the next chapter. The mood just got better with his addition.
