The Chicago Blackhawks have the number one pick in the 2023 NHL Draft thanks to a little bit of Lottery luck back in early May.

They are not going to leave the draft without Connor Bedard which is going to change the franchise forever. Well, behind Bedard is projected to be one of the best draft classes ever.

If they live up to the hype, it could compete with classes like 2003 and 2015. The Blackhawks would love to see that considering the fact that they have six total selections in the first two rounds.

There is one player that they should really make sure they don’t leave the draft without. That is University of Michigan forward Gavin Brindley. He is 18 years old and primarily plays right wing.

Gavin Brindley would be so perfect for the Chicago Blackhawks in the future.

He is an outstanding player that had an amazing year on a very deep Michigan squad loaded with guys like Adam Fantilli (who will go number two to Anaheim Ducks), Luke Hughes (New Jersey Devils), and Seamus Casey (New Jersey Devils) amongst a few other already-drafted players.

When he goes back for his sophomore season in 2023-24, he will have a much larger role than he did this past season. He could end up being one of the best forwards in the entire NCAA.

For the Blackhawks, the vision would be to see him playing with Connor Bedard one day. The kid can score goals and make plays which is something they need for Bedard who can also do both of those things incredibly well.

Chicago has the 19th overall pick and there is a chance that Brindley is there. His size (he is on the smaller side) might allow him to fall there but people who watch know size isn’t as important anymore.

If they have to trade up (they can use one of those four second-rounders) to get him in the early teens, they should absolutely do that. It feels like something that will brighten the future of the team even more.

Some team is going to land Brindley mid-way through the first round and be completely happy with it. Few teams can say they have a player even close to Connor Bedard which is why the Hawks should do whatever they can to make sure they don’t leave Nashville without him.
