The Chicago Blackhawks had a horrific season in terms of wins and losses. They were bad by design but it was a hard season to watch and follow along with.

With all of that said, by now you know that it was all worth it for Chicago. They won the draft lottery and are going to be bringing in Connor Bedard.

It is going to be a treat to have a player like that but the team needs to build around him wisely. There are lots of moves to be made if they are going to become a contender again.

One way that they can do that is by making big trades. There are some good players that they have that could be moved in order to make the roster better. These are three players to draft ahead of the 2023 NHL Draft:

1. Ian Mitchell

The Chicago Blackhawks could trade Ian Mitchell at some point soon.

Ian Mitchell is a solid young defenseman that just hasn’t hit his stride with the Chicago Blackhawks.

He was once thought of as someone that had captain qualities but his play hasn’t matched what is needed to get him to that kind of status.

He is still very young so it is possible that he gets there but you never know at this point. As of right now, he is a restricted-free agent.

There are plenty of teams out there looking for a good, young, and cheap defenseman that they can bring in to help them win. Ian Mitchell could very well be good trade bait. Whoever acquired him would need to sign him then.
