Veteran pass rushers the Chicago Bears can still sign: Justin Houston

The Bears are one of the more talked about landing spots for veteran Justin Houston, believe it or not. Even though Chicago is amidst a rebuild, they could go out and bring Houston in on a short-term deal.

Last season, Houston had a remarkably efficient year for the Baltimore Ravens. Even though he was in his age 33 season, Houston totaled 9.5 sacks in 14 games while playing only 44 percent of eligible defensive snaps. That is actually incredible, and again, extremely efficient.

Now 34 years old, Houston isn’t showing any signs of slowing down as an effective pass rusher. The veteran is crafty and continues to out-smart especially younger offensive linemen. He’s played on some excellent defenses and big teams, including being a long-time Kansas City Chiefs staple.

The four-time Pro Bowl pass rusher is taking his time to find his new team, it appears, and Chicago probably isn’t his first choice. At his age, he’s likely in the market for a winning team. But, if he’s added to this defense that’s been much-improved over the past couple of months, who knows how far the Bears could go in a division that isn’t as scary as it was in years past.
