The Chicago Bulls’ offseason has been in full swing for a few weeks now, but the Phoenix Suns have now joined them in watching from home.

After being eliminated by the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Semifinals, the Suns now face some big questions going into the summer months.

For one, there are already rumors in regards to center Deandre Ayton wanting a fresh start and the Suns being willing to shop him. Secondly, the Suns might also look to shop Chris Paul and the one guaranteed year left on his deal.

For the Bulls, they also have questions like re-signing Nikola Vucevic or Coby White, in addition to whether or not they will move on from DeMar DeRozan and indeed try to build this thing around Zach LaVine as their number one option.

Could these two teams work out a trade that helps them meet goals in similar fashion? Let’s look at a few possibilities.

Trade Number 1: The Chicago Bulls execute a sign-and-trade involving Nikola Vucevic and Chris Paul

First of all, this trade would hinge on the Bulls completely blowing it up and starting over, building around LaVine like some of the recent rumors have suggested.

Secondly, we’re also assuming the Bulls can trade DeMar DeRozan somewhere like the Knicks, getting picks and young players back in return.

Some may ask how this trade allows the Bulls to build around LaVine and think futuristically with a player like Chris Paul coming to Chicago. Well, the nice thing about Paul’s contract is that it’s only guaranteed through the 2023-2024 season.

Next year is not guaranteed, meaning the Bulls could move on before June 28, 2024 if they wanted to. Again, the Bulls are also dealing DeRozan elsewhere in this instance, meaning they’ll be thinking quite futuristically in that sense.

This trade also hinges on the Bulls re-signing Coby White, which would give Chicago a nice trio of guards between Paul, LaVine and White.
