The 2023 NFL Draft is in the books. The Chicago Bears and the rest of the league all made tons of selections that they hope change the course of their franchises.

The Chicago Bears had the number one pick in the draft because they were the worst team in the NFL during the 2022 season. However, they traded with the Carolina Panthers for a haul, and that moved them down to pick nine.

With weeks in between the trade and the actual draft, there was a lot of speculation on who they would take. However, they ended up trading back one spot to pick ten while Jalen Carter was still on the board. The Philadelphia Eagles ended up with Carter and the Bears drafted Darnell Wright.

That was a solid first-round pick as they get one of the best offensive tackles in the entire draft. Fixing the offensive line for Justin Fields was always a need.

On day two, the Bears made three more selections. They selected Gervon Dexter Sr., Tyrique Stevenson, and Zacch Pickens. Of course, that means three of their first four selections were in the trenches which is what the Bears needed badly.

The Chicago Bears made some great selections over the entire event.

On day three, the Chicago Bears made another six selections to end the event. They took Roschon Johnson, Tyler Scott, Noah Sewell, Terell Smith, Travis Bell, and Kendall Williamson.

Of all those selections. Johnson is going to steal the show. You can argue that is the best pick Ryan Poles made during the draft. Johnson was with Bijan Robinson (the star Texas running back that was drafted in the top ten) and that is the only reason he fell in this draft.

If Johnson chose a different school, he might have been a first-round running back. The fact that Poles got him at this point in the draft is an absolute steal. You may find that he is running back one right away.

Tyler Scott is a wide receiver from Cincinnati that might be able to join the WR room in Chicago and make an impact. Learning from DJ Moore, Chase Claypool, and Darnell Mooney might help him become a good player in the NFL.

The final four picks of the draft for Poles were all on defense which is just what the Bears needed. If a few of these guys can become NFL players, it will turn out to be a great draft for them. They should be happy with the names coming back to Chicago with them. Camp can’t come fast enough.
