Going into the 2023 NFL Draft, many fans want to see the Chicago Bears attack both sides of the trenches.

Defensively, the Bears were one of the worst teams up front last year, both against the run and in generating sacks on the quarterback. Offensively, Justin Fields was running for his life and fans were sick and tired of seeing it happen.

But, this offseason seems to have brought hope. The Bears have made a couple of moves via free agency to shore up the defensive line, as well as signing guard Nate Davis to come in and start. Yet, Chicago should not be done adding linemen.

In fact, they have their eyes on one offensive linemen in particular, just a short drive away. Wisconsin’s Joe Tippmann is one of the best interior linemen in this year’s class, and is currently projected to go in the second round by many outlets.

It appears as though, if the Bears had their way, they’d love to have him.

Joe Tippmann would be the perfect Round 2 pick for the Chicago Bears

It’s an eyebrow-raising tweet, there, from Greg Gabriel. The fact that the Bears wanted to see Tippmann, above anybody else, is a notable piece of information. Obviously, the Badgers have a good amount of guys go pro each year.

But, this Pro Day was all about Tippman.

The 6-foot-6 center has unbelievable size for the position and is as smart as they come.

What Bears fans will love most about Tippmann, though, is the fact that he moves extremely well for his size. He’s a strong guy, putting up 30 reps on the bench, which would have tied for fifth at this year’s Combine. But, he can move laterally in a hurry, which is very valuable for a team like the Bears that loves to run the football.

It also helps to know that Justin Fields might have an interior lineman who can run with him, and not after him, watching an opposing defensive lineman run past and nail him to the ground.

Tippmann is a surefire starter from Day 1, so the Bears would have a decision to make on either Lucas Patrick or Cody Whitehair. But, that’s a decision that can be made later. For now, it’s all about getting Tippmann to Chicago.
