3. Ian Happ

The Chicago Cubs didn’t trade Ian Happ last year but now they might want to.

The Chicago Cubs decided not to trade either Ian Happ or Willson Contreras last season. Now, Contreras has moved on to the St. Louis Cardinals but Happ is still with the club.

Why would he want to stick around long-term? The Cubs should trade him while he still has lots of value. If he has a bad start, he is going to be really hard to move by the trade deadline.

Let’s say the Cubs do keep Morel, they have him with Cody Bellinger and Seiya Suzuki as guys that can patrol the outfield. Happ isn’t going to be a Cubs player forever and now would be a time to take care of it.

They could get some really nice pitching or another hitter in return for him right now if they moved him before the season started. It might be too little too late for any of these guys but it is certainly something to think about.
