Players the Chicago Bears should avoid with the 9th overall pick: WR Quentin Johnston, TCU

Prior to the Bears acquiring DJ Moore from the Panthers, Quentin Johnston looked like a tantalizing option for them if they traded back, which of course they were going to do.

But now? It’s tough to see a world where they take Johnston.

With Moore and Mooney, the Bears have two legit outside receivers. They don’t need another one. If they opted to go wide receiver here, Jaxon Smith-Njigba is the easy answer.

Johnston is definitely an outside receiver who excels with his straight-line speed and as a deep threat. He’s got that big body, sure, but he doesn’t necessarily profile as a slot receiver. Again, the Bears are looking much better at wideout now. But, if they opted to go receiver, Smith-Njigba would be the perfect fit.

Aside from the fact that he fits the offense better based on updated personnel, Smith-Njigba already has the connection with Fields as a former college teammate.
