Later in the fifth round, Chicago trades back to acquire one additional pick.

The Bears offer the New York Giants their fifth rounder at pick 149, and in exchange they end up with a sixth and seventh-round pick.

With their sixth-round pick, the Bears go with Old Dominion tight end Zach Kurtz, a 6-foot-8 mammoth. Even at his size, Kurtz ran a ridiculous 4.55 in his 40-yard dash and notched a 40-inch vertical. Can you say red zone threat?

Kuntz’s athletic ability is impossible to ignore, and as a sixth-round selection, he could end up being the second fiddle to Cole Kmet, especially inside the 20. Kuntz is well-worth a pick here, as the Bears need to find a young, reliable tight end to place behind Kmet.

Had it not been for some injury concerns, Mohamed Ibrahim has the talent to get drafted a whole lot higher than the seventh round. But, he has missed at least one game in all but one season in college. 2021 saw his season end almost immediately with an Achilles tear, but he came back strong in 2022.

Last season, Ibrahim rushed for a college career-best 1,665 yards and 20 touchdowns. He is a hard-nosed runner who doesn’t like to go down right away. If the Bears have to replace David Montgomery, Ibrahim is a fantastic option to replace him, especially this late in the draft.

Patience and contact absorption is the name of the game for Ibrahim, and the Bears could plug and play him behind Khalil Herbert, despite being such a late selection.
