Chicago Bears Mock Draft: DJ Moore trade makes things interesting
By Ryan Heckman
Friday afternoon, the Chicago Bears shocked the NFL world when they opted to trade the number one overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
It wasn’t a surprise to see the pick traded, but more so the fact that it was traded so soon. Just a few days ago, we heard from general manager Ryan Poles that he would take his time and ensure he got the biggest haul possible.
Well, the Carolina Panthers came calling and offered quite the haul for said pick.
In exchange for the first overall selection, Carolina sent the Bears their no. 9 pick in this year’s draft, their second rounder this year, a first-round pick next year, a second-round pick in 2025, plus veteran wide receiver DJ Moore.
The Chicago Bears received quite the return for their no. 1 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, but now what do they do?
Moving down eight spots, the Bears now have plenty of options at no. 9 overall.
They could choose to address a few different positions, depending upon who is available.
First of all, acquiring the 25-year-old Moore allows the Bears to not feel pressure when it comes to finding Justin Fields a legitimate number 1 wide receiver. The Bears now have that in Moore, plus Darnell Mooney and Chase Claypool as their number two and three guys.
Going forward, it will be all about building the trenches, first and foremost. Then there are other positions of need to address as well. But, with the extra capital and the addition of Moore, there’s a lot of pressure taken off.
So, where do we go in this mock draft? Let’s get to it.
