Earlier today, it just seemed like a good idea for the Chicago Blackhawks to consider Alex Turcotte. David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period reported that some teams are checking in on him and he makes sense for the Blackhawks for a variety of reasons.

He is from Chicago and is a 22-year-old prospect that needs a change of scenery. He has played in 12 NHL games and has 0 points with a team that is all of a sudden trying to win right now.

You can’t just give up on this kid yet as he has all sorts of talent which is why he was the fifth overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft. He has also dealt with lots of injuries in his young career so getting healthy could really help him explode on the scene.

Now, however, we know that the Blackhawks are actually one of the teams that did check up on him. It isn’t just a dream to have him, it is something that could in theory actually happen.

The Chicago Blackhawks have checked in on Alex Turcotte of the L.A. Kings.

David Pagnotta, who seems to have a good grasp on this story, is also the one who suggested that the Hawks were one of the teams looking at him.

Pagnotta also included the Vancouver Canucks as a team that was checking in on him. That would be cool from a hockey standpoint as well because he’d go get a lot of playing time with some great offensive players.

However, the Blackhawks are actually rebuilding and not staying stag in the middle of the standings like the Canucks are.

Can you imagine if the Hawks won the lottery, drafted Connor Bedard, and got to play with Alex Turcotte at either even strength or on the power play (or both)? That would be absolutely amazing for Chicago fans to watch.

With Lukas Reichel, Kevin Korchinski, Ethan Del Mastro, and Frank Nazar amongst a few others, the Blackhawks are building a really nice group of young players. Adding someone like Turcotte, who is slightly older than them, would be great. We’ll see if anything happens in regard to this.

It isn’t just about draft picks for the Hawks. If the price is right, adding a young player with this much talent who just might need a new team is a good idea.
