The Chicago Blackhawks are one of the worst teams in the National Hockey League. In a lot of ways, it is by design. As a result, they have their sights set on the 2023 NHL Draft where they could be drafting a very good player in the top five.

Naturally, they are sellers at the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline. They have traded Patrick Kane, Jake McCabe, Max Domi, Sam Lafferty, and Jack Johnson in addition to a couple of other small trades. There could be even more good players on their way out.

All of the trades that they have made are ones that either help them fill roster spots to finish this season or to make their future brighter. Well, the trades for the future usually just include high draft picks. However, they can also trade for prospects that have a high pedigree.

There is one prospect that might be available for the Blackhawks to consider and that is Alex Turcotte of the Los Angeles Kings. Turcotte was born in Elk Grove, Illinois so coming back to the Blackhawks would be a homecoming of sorts for the 22-year-old.

The Chicago Blackhawks should consider Alex Turcotte for a trade.

He hasn’t developed the way that some of the kids drafted around him have but that doesn’t take away from his skill. The Los Angeles Kings are in win-now mode again so they might consider moving him to a team like the Hawks who will be more patient with his development.

It might not take that much to land him because of his circumstance. He has played in 12 NHL games and hasn’t collected a point yet. However, not all hope is lost. If he came to the Hawks and went to the second line behind Lukas Reichel, he might get the minutes needed to help him.

He’d also get plenty of touches playing with Reichel on the power play which would help out a lot. If he all of the sudden started to figure it out, the Blackhawks would then have another great young player in the mix.

He might also have an extra bit of motivation if he got to put on the Blackhawks sweater because this is where he is from. You can’t give up a lot for him because of the risk but the Hawks need to check and see if the price is right.
