The Chicago Blackhawks have been rebuilding for a little over a year now. This day was always bound to come but Patrick Kane no longer plays for Chicago. He has been traded away to the New York Rangers in exchange for a  2023 second-round pick and a 2023 fourth-round pick.

The 2023 second-round pick can become a first-round pick in either 2024 or 2025 if the New York Rangers win at least two rounds. That is certainly going to be interesting to see with how deep the Eastern Conference playoffs are going to be.

Kane goes to the Rangers where he is finally going to be playing with good players again. Guys like Artemi Panarin, Mika Zibanajad, Chris Kreider, and Vladimir Tarasenko are likely very excited to get chances to play with Kane at even strength and on the power play.

Of course, this leaves a lot of pain behind in Chicago. Kane is the greatest player in the history of the franchise which was always going to make it sad when he leaves. He won three Stanley Cups, a Hart Trophy, a Conn Smythe Trophy, the Calder Trophy, and the Art Ross Trophy.

The Chicago Blackhawks traded Patrick Kane away to the New York Rangers.

In his career with the Blackhawks, he scored 446 goals and 779 assists for 1225 points. Of course, that is a lot of points to go with all of those trophies. The Rangers are getting one of the game’s all-time greatest players.

Panarin and Kane have obviously played together before and had tremendous success. Those were some of the best years of their careers. In fact, when Kane won the Hart Trophy, he was playing with Panarin. Now we get to see them on broadway.

As hockey fans, it will be fun to see Kane back in the playoffs. He deserves this opportunity to be on the big stage playing with this great team in New York.

As for the Hawks, they also win in another way besides the draft picks. They just became a much worse team without Patrick Kane. The more they lose, the better chance they have at Connor Bedard. If they were to win the draft lottery, this would all be worth it.
