Blackhawks News: A huge blockbuster is made on Monday
There has been a lot of speculation in Chicago Blackhawks’ land over the last few weeks. Everyone on the roster is available because they are rebuilding. They want to build this thing from the ground up which means tearing it down.
Of course, they have made a few small trades over the last week or so but nothing that is going to move the needle for the rebuild. However, that all changed on Monday when they made a blockbuster with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Jake McCabe, Sam Lafferty, and fifth-round picks in both 2024 and 2024 are going to the Maple Leafs in exchange for Joey Anderson, Pavel Gogolev, a first-round pick in 2025, and a second-round pick in 2026. Although the picks are pushed out a bit, this is a really nice haul for Chicago.
You never know where the Leafs are going to be in the standings in 2024 or 2025. A lot of things can happen between now and then. With sustained success on the mind, this is a great move for the Chicago Blackhawks. Kyle Davidson is executing his plan.
The Chicago Blackhawks and Toronto Maple Leafs made a big-time trade.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are all in on winning the Stanley Cup. With superstars like Auston Matthews, William Nylander, John Tavares, and Mitch Marner amongst others, adding plenty of depth will help them make that run toward the cup.
With the Tampa Bay Lightning and Boston Bruins potentially in their way of a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals, this is a big-time move for them in that quest to finally win the Stanley Cup. The Hawks did them a big favor here.
The Hawks will continue the rebuild with all of these picks coming up here. Adding as many young players and draft picks is a great way for this team to move forward.
Plenty of other Blackhawks players could get moved but Patrick Kane is the big story now. If he is going to go to the New York Rangers, it is going to happen this week. Keep an eye out for that.
Jake McCabe and Sam Lafferty were great Blackhawks which is why they landed a good return but they will find even more success playing in Toronto. It is fair to wish them well once the playoffs roll around.
