The Chicago Blackhawks are in all sorts of rumors. There is a good chance that they trade Patrick Kane to the New York Rangers this week but there are still other moves to be made. They are going to be doing what they can to execute the rebuild as best as they can.

On Sunday, they made a trade with the defending Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche. They traded Jack Johnson back to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for Andreas Englund. It is a deal that ships Johnson off to the Avalanche for a forward that can eat some minutes.

Englund is someone that has bounced back and forth from the NHL and AHL over his time. He was a fourth round draft pick by the Senators in 2014. He later signed on with the Avalanche.

As mentioned before, Englund might play with the Blackhawks for the rest of this season. He can be a body that plays in the lineup after they trade away some of the current players on the roster. They certainly need more forwards than defenseman for that type of role so trading Johnson is explained by that.

The Chicago Blackhawks made a trade for a forward on Sunday night.

Now that Jack Johnson is gone, the Hawks won’t have a veteran that isn’t a part of the future taking minutes away from the younger players who deserve their chance more. This is good news for the team as we’ll get to see more of a youth movement on the blue line.

Johnson also gets to go back to the team that has a chance to win the Stanley Cup in a depth role. That is much better for him than finishing out this year in a depth role on a very bad team.

Now, we will wait for some more high profile moves to be made. Kane will be traded but he might be joined by guys like Max Domi, Andreas Athanasiou, and Jake McCabe amongst others so there are going to be some changes made to this team.

Some bad hockey is coming to the United Center but it will all be worth it if they play their cards right.
